On January 2, 2018, Health Net Federal Services (HNFS) became the new managed care contractor for the TRICARE West Region, serving approximately 2.9 million beneficiaries in 21 western states, including Kansas. HNFS took over the contract previously held by UnitedHealthcare Military and Veterans’ Services. As with any transition of this size, HNFS has experienced a broad range of implementation issues including challenges related to provider contracting & credentialing, undesired beneficiary enrollment transfers, and provider director inaccuracies.
