Save the Date:  Revisiting Peer Review in Kansas Healthcare

9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Dec. 7, 2022
KMS/KAMMCO conference center, Topeka
Register via University of Kansas Medical Center

Kansas’s peer review and mandatory incident reporting structure and its standard-of-care determination model has remained largely unchanged since it was mandated by law nearly four decades ago.  Health care professionals, risk managers, health care executives and regulatory agencies are increasingly asking whether this system is an effective means to promote patient safety, improve patient outcomes, and facilitate performance improvement while respecting physicians’ and other clinicians’ rights.

Please mark your calendar and plan to join us on Dec. 7 for this important discussion about peer review and performance improvement in Kansas and explore how we can work together to improve healthcare professionals' working lives while improving patient care.

Who should attend: physicians, chief medical officers, hospital CEOs, risk managers, nurse leaders, risk managers, or others responsible for conducting peer review and quality improvement in Kansas hospitals and other health care facilities.

The conference is co-sponsored by the Kansas Hospital Association, the Kansas Medical Society, the University of Kansas Health System, the Kansas Center for Rural Health, KAMMCO, and in collaboration with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.

Reminder: Election Day is Nov. 8
The national and statewide election is Tuesday, Nov. 8. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Early and mail-in options are also currently available. To find your polling location visit:  My Vote Info.

If you have questions about the candidates in your district, you are welcome to contact KMS to discuss candidates’ policy positions. While KMS does not endorse candidates, we can provide education about particular legislators and how they have voted on issues that implicate the practice of medicine in our state, or on candidates who have not yet served in the legislature but have stated policy positions.
