HIPAA-compliant texting made simple & free

Through a specialized app KMS members can now securely exchange patient information. DocbookMD–a new KMS member benefit–is a HIPAA-compliant messaging solution designed to facilitate the exchange of protected health information via a smart phone, tablet or laptop. Access to the app is available to current KMS members at no cost.

DocbookMD simplifies physician-to-physician communication because messages can contain diagnosis, consult requests, test results and even high-resolution images such as x-rays. It also facilitates physician communication with practice administrators, PA's, nursing staff and other members of the patient care team. Messages exchanged within the app meet HIPAA requirements for encryption and security allowing physicians to safely realize the benefits of texting within the care provision process.

"As teamwork becomes increasingly important in the patient care process, it is critical that we can safely communicate with other members of the health care team. As a sports medicine physician, I have been using DocBookMD to communicate with my nursing staff and athletic trainers about patient care. This has been a fantastic addition to our practice," said Jennifer Koontz, MD (Newton). "Because we are often in different locations, DocbookMD facilitates our exchanging quick, secure messages about radiology reports, lab results, patient phone calls and refill requests. This has become my #1 app!"

Physicians who are KMS members may activate their DocbookMD accounts immediately. To get started, download the DocbookMD app from iTunes or Google Play. Complete the short registration process and begin exchanging messages in fewer than 5 minutes.
