Tobacco sales to minors

ISSUE SUMMARY

Numerous studies have confirmed that tobacco smoke is a major contributor to indoor air pollution, and that breathing second-hand smoke is a significant health hazard for all individuals, but most particularly for certain population groups, including elderly people, individuals with cardiovascular disease, and individuals with impaired respiratory function, including asthmatics, and those with obstructive airway disease.

ADOPTED ACTION OR POLICY

KMS reaffirms its support for strict enforcement of laws prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to minors, and its support for a prohibition on smoking in public places and places of employment, including hospitals.
