Health Care Stabilization Fund
ISSUE SUMMARY
The Health Care Stabilization Fund was created by the 1976 Legislature to provide a stable source of excess professional liability insurance for Kansas physicians and hospitals. The HCSF has been operated in a fiscally sound manner and continues to serve an important function for Kansas health care providers.
ADOPTED ACTION OR POLICY
KMS reaffirms its support for continuing the Health Care Stabilization Fund. The KMS Executive Committee is directed to continue to monitor the status of the Health Care Stabilization Fund closely, including studies and recommendations of the Legislative Health Care Stabilization Fund Oversight Committee. The Executive Committee is also directed to continue to report annually to the House of Delegates on the status of the Health Care Stabilization Fund, and any recommendations it might have from time to time on changing the HCSF operation or structure.
