EMS Medical Directors of Kansas
ISSUE SUMMARY
In 2009, a group of physicians who serve as medical directors for EMS services in Kansas approached KMS and expressed their desire to form an association. The group has worked diligently to define a structure for their independent organization; today, they operate effectively under the volunteer leadership of a Board of Directors. The association has formalized its purpose:
To unite, through advocacy and education, physicians who serve as Medical Directors of Kansas-licensed emergency medical services and others who have an interest in pre-hospital care.
The KMS Executive Committee has found that the EMSMDoK meets the requirements to be recognized as a “specialty section” in the KMS House of Delegates and recommends support of the proposed action below.
ADOPTED ACTION OR POLICY
KMS approves the EMS Medical Directors of Kansas (EMSMDoK) as a recognized specialty section within the KMS House of Delegates. Additionally, the KMS bylaws should be amended by adding section 4.5823: EMS Medical Directors of Kansas.
Adopted by the KMS House of Delegates on April 30, 2011.
