Council of Academic Physicians
ISSUE SUMMARY
As directed by Resolution 09-26, which directed KMS to begin a process of recommending strategies designed to increase KMS membership from all practice settings, the Council (pursuant to section 4.51 of the Bylaws) reviewed and approved a proposal to establish a section on academic physicians in the KMS Bylaws. Consistent with our efforts to engage greater participation and membership from faculty at the KU School of Medicine, it is believed that this would be a good way to provide a forum for discussion of issues important to academic physicians, as well as giving that group representation in the KMS House of Delegates.
Membership in the newly created “Council of Academic Physicians” would be open to any KMS member who holds a faculty appointment at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, and at any of its branches, whether that appointment is full time or part time.
ADOPTED ACTION OR POLICY
That the KMS Bylaws be amended to create a new section, as follows:
4.5822 Council of Academic Physicians
Adopted by the KMS House of Delegates on May 1, 2010.
