Protecting the physician-patient relationship

RESOLVED, The Kansas Medical Society will carry a resolution to the 2009 Annual Meeting of the House of Delegates of the American Medical Association that will ask for a new report on the health of the patient-physician relationship.  The report should address the likely impact on the patient-physician relationship of new methods of health care financing, third-party judgments of physician quality, and third-party directed use of comparative clinical effectiveness research data, and the report should recommend specific strategies to protect the patient-physician relationship from infringement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Kansas resolution request that our AMA present an interim report for discussion at the Interim Meeting of 2009 and a final report for action at the Annual Meeting of 2010.
