RESOLVED, That through the Kansas Medical Society and county local medical societies physicians are encouraged to take a strong leadership position in the design and implementation of the HIT changes identified through the ARRA of 2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That physicians should become educated on issues related to adoption of electronic health records, including potential benefits to their practice and their patients, challenges, costs, potential to impact quality and cost of care, and implications for the exchange of health information; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Kansas Medical Society continue, through its HIT Task Force, to serve as a resource to physicians as they seek information and answers to questions about health information technology, electronic health records and health information exchanges; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Kansas Medical Society believes physicians should make decisions about adoption of electronic health records systems based upon what is best for their practice and their patients.
