Supply of primary care physicians
RESOLVED, That the Kansas Medical Society strongly urges the legislature to support and adequately fund medical education and graduate medical education programs at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in order to address the problems of inadequate supply and distribution of primary care physicians in the state of Kansas; and be it further
RESOLVED, That KMS express its thanks to the legislature for the enhancements in the Kansas Medical and Osteopathic Student Loan Program in 2007, and encourages the legislature and all stakeholders to continue to investigate other strategies to increase the training, recruitment and retention of allopathic and osteopathic primary care physicians in our state; and be it further
RESOLVED, That Executive Committee bring back to the 2009 House of Delegates a report on the activities and recommendations of the various groups studying the issues relating to the training, recruitment and retention of primary care physicians in Kansas.
