Retaining Kansas' liability reforms
Since enactment of a comprehensive legislative package in the mid-1980s, Kansas has had a stable, balanced professional liability environment. Now, the centerpiece of our highly effective tort reforms is facing its first serious constitutional challenge since it was upheld by the Kansas Supreme Court in 1990. KMS, along with our partners in the health care community, is committed to retaining those valuable laws and is prepared to act, even work to amend the state constitution, should it become necessary.
