SB 195: Licensure of acupuncturists

| Print |

Description

  • The bill would legally recognize and license acupuncturists and practitioners of oriental medicine under Kansas law. Acupuncturists and oriental medicine practitioners would enjoy a relatively wide and unclear scope of practice under the legislation which defines oriental medicine and acupuncture as using the regulation of the flow and balance of energy, form and function to restore, promote and maintain health in the diagnosis, management and treatment of disease or illness. Acupuncturists may currently practice in Kansas, but only under the referral of, or supervision by, a medical doctor, doctor of osteopathy or doctor of chiropractic.
