SB 88: Naturopaths' scope of practice expansion

Description

  • Expands the scope of practice for naturopathic doctors to include the injecting prescription and non-prescription substances on the naturopathic formulary which are authorized for intramuscular or intravenous administration without a written protocol with a physician (currently required by law). Bill also includes allowances for naturopaths to administer oxygen, epinephrine, homeopathics, vitamins, minerals and items on the naturopathic formulary for intravenous, intramuscular or subcutaneous administration. Would also allow naturopaths to administer immunizations and provide topical bio-identical hormones including prescription only drugs but excluding prescription analgesics, antiseptics, scabicides, antifungals or antibacterials
