SB 51: Consent for OTC medications

Description

  • Allows that a student may be given over-the-counter medications while in school provided the student has written consent from a parent or legal guardian. Administration of an OTC medicine will not require a health care provider's written authorization. However, a school nurse or school employee may require written authorization from a health care provider before dispensing any prescription medication.
