HB 2159: Direct access for physical therapy

Description

  • Amends physical therapy scope of practice to eliminate the need for physician referral. Physical therapists would be allowed to diagnose and initiate treatment on their own. A referral would only be required should the patient not improve after 45 days from the initial evaluation. The bill would require the PT to transmit to a licensed practitioner of the patient's choice a copy of the initial evaluation within 5 business days.
